Parent Workshop on Handling Student Stress, Anxiety, and Depression

Parenting is hard work! Children are growing physically and emotionally at their own pace and each with their own set of unique circumstances. As parents and educators, our goal is to prepare our children for each phase of life, not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well.

Developing skills to cope with stress, anxiety and depression are critical, as there has been a documented rise in all three in recent years among school-age children.

We don’t know what will cause our kids stress – it could be their grades or worrying over things they cannot control. It is important for us to pay attention, and assist our children with developing skills to persevere in the face of hardship.

Mark your calendars now! Tuesday, December 18th at 7:00 pm, Hawthorne ES will host a program for parents that will address stress and anxiety among children and the sources of stress (including, but not limited to bullying and social media).

We are honored to have as our speaker, Dr. Noriel E. Lim, PhD, assistant professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University. Dr. Lim specializes in evidence-based approaches to the treatment of anxiety and depression among children, teens and adults.

We hope you can join us for this very important workshop. Please feel free to invite family, friends, neighbors, etc. who may benefit from this information. This workshop is open to anyone wishing to attend. Interpreters will be available.

Sincerely,

Lisa Limoncelli, Principal
